Living Healthy After Weight Loss

Obesity has become a large and very serious problem in the US. It is believed that by 2020 more than half of all Americans will be overweight. This is not something that dieting will be able to fix. Americans need to adopt a more healthy and active lifestyle.

At Advance Health Services we offer a number of weight loss programs that can help patients loose weight quickly and get a jumpstart on a healthy lifestyle. But no diet will be effective if the underlying unhealthy habits are not addressed. As many as ninety-five percent of those that loose weight rapidly through dieting gain the weight back.

It does not have to be difficult. By working slowly and incorporating changes one at a time, you increase your chances success. Below are some guidelines to follow to start living a lifestyle where you are more conscious of the health impact of your daily choices.

Move More - A sedentary, inactive lifestyle is the quickest path to weight gain and disease. There are many ways to include more physical activity into your day. Try squeezing in micro workouts throughout your day. In a few minutes you can do a couple of sets of calisthenics like squats or pushup. These exercises strengthen muscles and get the blood pumping but wont make you break a sweat in the middle of the work day. Walk anywhere you need to go that's less than a mile away and use stairs when you are going up two or three flights. Carrying a pedometer will let you keep track of how much you're moving each day.

Shop Smart - The best way to avoid high fat, high sugar, high salt snacks is to not bring them into the house in the first place. Buy foods that you know are good for you. They should include plenty of fruits and vegetables, low fat proteins and whole grains. Pack your own lunch and snacks to avoid temptations.

Plan and Document - A meal plan is a great way to get control over what you eat. Once or twice a month take some time to plan your meals. This will, of course, tie in with your grocery shopping. Logging what you eat will allow you to get a feel for how you are doing. A food log makes it easy to see where your weaknesses may lie.

Drink Black Coffee - The coffee drinks many of us have grown to love since Starbucks appeared on the scene are really little more than dessert in a cup. Instead of indulging in the those sugary, rich, whipped cream topped drinks, pour yourself a good old cup of black coffee. Add a bit of skim milk and sugar if you must. Most black coffee drinkers will tell you it's a taste that is easy to acquire.

Spend Time with Healthy People - You don't want to cut off your long time friends and acquaintances, but if most of your socializing involves sitting around having beers and snacks, you should probably try to add some more active friends to your circle. Foster relationships with people that like to get outdoors and walk, ride bike or take part in other physical activities.

Making the change to a healthier lifestyle does not have to be difficult and intimidating. Try adopting one of these changes every week or two, then stick with them. The most important aspect to success is consistency. Before you know it, healthy habits will be coming to you naturally. At Advance Health Services we can help you get on the road to a healthy lifestyle. Call us today to schedule your first consultation.

Weight Loss New Year's Resolution

Make This the New Year You Succeed at Your Weight Loss Resolutions

Goetz with CaptionNew Year's Resolutions are a long standing tradition, and why not? The beginning of a New Year brings with it the prospect of a fresh start, new possibilities and opportunities. Unfortunately there also seems to be a tradition of dropping resolutions a week or two into the New Year and falling back into old habits. Take advantage of the coming New Year to improve your health and move toward your ideal, healthy weight. Taking some time to plan ahead will help you avoid pitfalls and greatly increase your chance of success.

Start by being realistic. Avoid setting intimidating or unattainable goals for yourself. They are the surest path to failure. If you know you need to lose 50 pounds eventually, make it your goal to lose 8 pound a month. This way the coming year can be full of smaller accomplishments instead of one far off target. Then reward yourself for each milestone. Every month you achieve your goal treat yourself to something you like, but which does not contradict your resolution. If there is a month when you don't quite make it, resolve to work harder the next month.

Similarly, a resolution to completely cut out your favorite food is doomed to fail. Instead, decide to have it only once a month, or maybe at the start of each season. Set a date when you will have that decadent meal again. It will be something to look forward to, and you will have a sense of having earned it when it arrives.

Planning Now Will Ensure a Timely Start!

Start a plan in December. Write an outline of your plan. Be clear about your goals and timeline. Make a list of the benefits of keeping your resolution and refer to it often. Create an exercise schedule you will be able to stick with. It is also important to include ways to deal with temptation in your plan. Think about what you will do when you feel like skipping a workout or indulging in an unhealthy meal. Write down the negative consequences of these small lapses. If possible your plan should include a partner, preferably someone who has similar goals. Look out for each other and be ready with encouragement to keep each other going.

Do not beat yourself up for any lapse or failure. If you find you have run out of steam by February, just recommit and start over. Maybe set up smaller and shorter goals that you can tackle more easily. Research has shown that repeating an activity for 21 days will make it into a habit. Repeat it for six months and it will be part of your personality. Keep at it and it will slowly start to become easier.

At Advance Health Services we have safe and effective medical weight loss programs, including HCG injections that will help you get a jump start on getting healthy. An initial weight loss boost is a great way to start. You can also consult with our on staff registered nutritionist for help in putting together a meal and supplement plan to get you healthy and feeling great. We also offer ancillary treatments such as Lipo-Light to help you achieve your ultimate goal. Call us today. The best time to start planning your New Year's resolution is now.

Lose Weight and Keep it Off with the Help of Chiropractic

Goetz with CaptionFor many, weight loss becomes a lifelong struggle. Beyond the negative effects to one's health that can result from repeatedly losing and regaining weight, obesity leads to an increased risk of developing life threatening illnesses like diabetes and heart disease. To be truly successful weight loss should be tied to a holistic approach and a healthy lifestyle. One that includes physical activity, nutritional awareness and usually modified behavior. Chiropractic care can play an effective role in holistic health and weight loss.

Chiropractic care is a non-invasive and drug free way to heal the body, reduce pain and increase strength. It has additional benefits like improving mobility and posture as well as increasing nerve function. Glancing at this short list chiropractic's contribution to weight loss should be obvious. Simply stated, chiropractic care promotes overall health and personal well-being. Furthermore, and perhaps most importantly, chiropractic care facilitates communication between the brain and the rest of the body. This allows all parts of the body to function properly and encourages holistic health.

In relation to weight loss, chiropractic care eases pressure on the spinal cord and increases overall flexibility. These are important elements to achieve maximum results from exercise. The aligning of the spine achieved through chiropractic manipulation helps the body absorb nutrients that will be needed during weight loss. As one continues to lose weight, their center of gravity adjusts, applying more pressure on different parts of the body. Continued chiropractic adjustments will strengthen the body's core, encouraging balance. On a practical level, stiffness and soreness from increased exercise can be alleviated through chiropractic care.

Weight Loss Programs Give You a Running Start

The ultimate goal should be a lifestyle change, but that does not diminish the desire many have for fast results, and there is no denying the psychological boost that comes from rapid weight loss. With so many choices available, it is important to choose a system that is safe and that will not result in relapse. At Advance Health Services we offer a number of highly effective weight loss systems, like the popular Lipo Lite and HCG injections. We have found that these programs provide an initial boost that encourage patients to stick with their weight loss efforts. These programs yield impressive results and can be used as part of a holistic approach that includes nutritional counseling, increased physical activity and chiropractic care.

The most recent addition to our weight loss system offerings at Advance Health Services, Elite Fit Forever, has quickly become a favorite among our weight loss patients due to its effectiveness and ease of use. Developed right here in South Florida, Elite Fit Forever is a three phase system that is tailored to the patient’s needs. It is designed to reset your metabolism and change your approach to nutrition and overall wellness. Elite Fit Forever has provided excellent results in our office and fits perfectly within the holistic approach we encourage.

Your next step should be to call Advance Health Services today. We will help you achieve rapid initial weight loss followed by a lifetime of increased health, energy and confidence. All with the help of chiropractic care. The best time to start is now.

New Weight Loss Devices Deliver Fast Results Without Surgery

Goetz with CaptionRight now there are a variety of new weight loss devices on the market that promise rapid weight loss with no surgery. And there are more coming. New ideas are being tested and patents are being applied for. At the same time, people in other parts of the world, where restrictions are more lax, are using new technologies that will not be available in the US for years, if at all. Demand for these technologies is high because most people do not want to risk surgery and diet and exercise is a challenge to many.

Unfortunately, the traditional medical community is sometimes slow to adopt new ideas or technologies, especially if they seem too good to be true.  Not to mention, the medical community has the bottom line to think about. Surgery and pharmaceuticals are highly profitable, after all. At Advance Health Services we make it a priority to research and invest in the latest and most promising weight loss technologies.

Gastric bypass and gastric banding are the most popular weight loss operations performed. Both result in dramatic weight loss, as much as 80 percent of excess weight for some people. But they carry all of the discomfort and risk of any major surgery. Meanwhile, the fatality rate of gastric banding surgery is one in 1,000 while for gastric bypass it is three times that. Although more than 20 million people in the US are candidates for surgical weight loss procedures, only about 200,000 of these operations are performed each year. That is only one percent of candidates opting to have surgery. The fact is most are going to avoid it if at all possible.

Many effective weight loss technologies stem from simple, common sense concepts. But companies developing technologies that work internally must account for the high acid content of the stomach. Such devices must be precisely engineered and made out of high grade materials if they are going to be effective.

Among the popular new devices, or those expected to come to market soon are the Abiliti made by a company named IntraPace. The Abiliti can be described as a sort of gastric pacemaker. The device delivers waves of electricity to the stomach wall causing contractions that create a feeling of being full. Allergan, and some other companies, offer a balloon like device that restricts the space in the stomach. The ballon is inserted into the stomach through the mouth and is inflated once in place. The ballon causes the patient to feel fuller quicker and encourages smaller, less frequent meals. Allergan is currently selling their ballon in parts of Europe and is waiting for FDA approval in the US. A Boston company called Gelesis has come up with a substance that is ingested in a capsule and which swells in the stomach into a heavy slushy material, also creating a feeling of fullness. Later the material shrinks again and is excreted by the body.

The leader among completely non-invasive weight loss devices is the Lipo Light. It works with low doses of laser light targeted directly at problem spots in the body. The low level laser disrupts the fat cell membranes, making them more permeable. At that point, triglycerides can pass through the permeable fat cell walls, reducing the size of those fat cells. The procedure is simple, painless and can result in inches being shed from the waist and other areas. Advance Health Services is happy to offer the Lipo Light to our patients. Call today to setup your consultation.

Lose Inches with Lipo Light

Lose 3-7 Inches in as Little as 3 Weeks With Lipo Light

Goetz with CaptionMany have experienced those stubborn trouble spots that are resistant to diet, exercise and other weight loss techniques. A person can be fit and healthy, but may never be able to lose that slightly protruding belly or the fat that accumulates around the hips, buttocks and other parts of the body. For years we have turned to liposuction and tummy tucks when nothing else work. But factor in the use of anesthesia, scarring, recovery time and cost, and surgery become undesirable.

Now at Advance Health Services we are using a safe and highly effective alternative that can provided similar results, but without going under the knife. Lipo Light is a new precision system for reducing fat spots, contouring the body and taking inches off the waistline and other problem areas. Lipo Light is non-invasive, perfectly safe and completely pain free.

Lipo LightLipo Light can be used on many parts of the body including the arms, face, hips, knees, buttocks, thighs, back and pubic area.  It can even have excellent results in treating gynecomastia. Using this revolutionary system, patients can expect visible reduction of circumference after just one treatment and can shed 2 to 6 centimeters from problem areas over the course of treatment, consisting of eight sessions over a month's time.

Simple Science is Behind Lipo Light's Success

Lipo Light works by targeting low dosage laser light directly at those parts of the body that don't respond to diet and exercise. This low level laser energy causes a disruption in the fat cell membranes, basically making it more permeable without affecting any surrounding tissue. Triglycerides can slip out of the now permeable fat cell walls, reducing the size of those fat cells.

Through the body's natural metabolic process, the triglycerides end up being burned for energy. Furthermore, the Lipo Light's laser energy also stimulates the lymphatic system, which further aides in draining the released fat from the body. Best of all, there is no recovery time whatsoever. As a matter of fact, participating in exercise immediately after a Lipo Light treatment  is encouraged as it intensifies the release of the triglycerides.

The Lipo Light system consists of several pads equipped with LED lights. These are held in place with adjustable straps directly against the area to be treated. The warm light emitted by each pad is comfortable, even soothing. A Lipo Light session takes 20 to 30 minutes, after which you will notice discernible circumference loss in the treated area. The fat cells have literally reduced in mass. Immediate exercise is recommended to intensify the Lipo Light effect and to help metabolize the released fat.

Lipo Light can deliver effective results in just one treatment. Sustained results take place when Lipo Light is used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise regime. After two weeks, another area can be targeted with a new four week treatment course. Patients are encouraged to return once or twice a month for maintenance sessions

A Safe Procedure With Immediate Results

Lipo Light is perfectly safe for almost anyone over the age of 18. Like any medical procedure, there are some caveats. Lipo Light should not be used by women who are pregnant or breast feeding. It is not effective on men with stored, hard belly fat deposits. Those with the following conditions are not candidates for treatment. Talk to you doctor before starting any treatment plan.

  • Heart Disease
  • AIDS
  • Thyroid Problems
  • Pins or Plates
  • Kidney or Liver Disease
  • Cancer

Call Advance Health Services today.  We will schedule the next available appointment for you to start your Lipo Light treatment plan. After less than an hour in our office, you will experience visible circumference loss and be on your way to a dramatic loss of inches.
