Leading practitioner-assisted stretching expert Jorden Gold was inspired to develop the Stretch Zone Method in 2004 after witnessing how deep stretching helped his grandfather, who previously could barely get himself out of a bed, become more active and mobile. The Stretch Zone Method works through the nervous system to increase flexibility. Our muscles have a kind of nerve related energy known as the stretch reflex. When a movement stretches a muscle too far or too fast, the stretch reflex is what stops the movement from continuing. The stretch reflex is meant to protect our muscles from over extending. The Stretch Zone Method works with the stretch reflex and other neuromuscular principles to get beyond the muscle’s normal stretching limit. With the Stretch Zone Method table’s adjustable straps and pads, the practitioner uses specific protocols to reposition, isolate, stabilize and manipulate the muscles. Once the body is properly stabilized, the stretch reflex diminishes, allowing the muscle to stretch further. As much as 160% further.
